Length

2 days, 10am to 5pm

Where

111 Cumberland House, 80 Scrubs Lane, NW10 6RF

You leave with

CPD-accredited Phlebotomy Competency Certificate

Same classroom course. Three levels of support afterwards.

Every package begins with the same two-day course and the same certificate. What changes is how much supervised practice and job-application support you get once the classroom is over.

Option 1

2-Day Classroom Course

£250

  • Two days of classroom training with GMC-registered doctors
  • Live bleed practice on day two
  • All equipment and training materials
  • Course handbook and study material, included
  • CPD-accredited Phlebotomy Competency Certificate, to support your applications for phlebotomy roles in NHS settings, GP practices and private clinics across the UK

Ideal if you want to complete the classroom course and obtain your competency certificate.

Option 2Most chosen

Classroom + 3 Months Advanced Training

£600

Everything in Option 1, plus

  • Three months of advanced training (work experience): two supervised sessions a month in a clinical setting
  • Recommendation letter confirming three months as a Trainee Phlebotomist
  • Job reference support for 12 months
  • CV and cover letter review by a certified healthcare recruitment professional, to UK healthcare recruitment standards
  • Training portfolio documenting your three-month trainee experience, for your CV

Ideal if you want additional practical training and ongoing job application support.

Option 3

Classroom + 6 Months Advanced Training

£700

Everything in Option 1, plus

  • Six months of advanced training (work experience): two supervised sessions a month in a clinical setting
  • Recommendation letter confirming six months as a Trainee Phlebotomist
  • Job reference support for 24 months
  • CV and cover letter review by a certified healthcare recruitment professional, to UK healthcare recruitment standards
  • Training portfolio documenting your six-month trainee experience, for your CV

Ideal if you want a longer period of advanced training and extended job reference support.

£250 buys you the certificate. £600 and £700 buy you the evidence. Most employers asking for a phlebotomist want to see that you have drawn blood from real patients, under supervision, more than once. That is what the three and six-month programmes are for.

What happens across the two days

Day one: Theory

  • Phlebotomy techniques
  • Health and safety
  • Anatomy: identifying a usable vein
  • Practice on a synthetic hand
  • Theory assessment

Day two: Practical

  • Practice on manikins
  • Supervised blood draws from fellow participants
  • Practical assessment

By the end you will be able to

  • Work to professional standards of practice
  • Apply infection control, including ANTT
  • Label, handle and transport specimens correctly
  • Explain the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system
  • Perform venepuncture safely, and manage complications when they arise

Before you can book, you need

  • Two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine, unless you have recently completed the course or can show evidence of immunity
  • A good standard of English reading and communication
  • Consent to draw blood from fellow trainees, and to have your own blood drawn

You pass by doing, not by sitting an exam. There are two assessments, one on each day, and you need both to receive the certificate.

Options 2 and 3: advanced training, your work experience

Supervised sessions in a real clinical setting, booked in advance around your commitments. This is what turns a certificate into something an employer can check.

How it works

  1. Finish the classroom course

You must pass both the theory and practical assessments before the programme can start.

  2. Your sessions are booked in

Two supervised sessions a month, around four hours each, usually beginning two to six weeks after the course.

  3. You build the hours

Six days in total over three months, or twelve days over six months, drawing blood under supervision at a fixed clinical site.

  4. You leave with the paperwork

A recommendation letter, a training portfolio of what you did, a reviewed CV and cover letter, and a named reference for 12 or 24 months.

What you need to join it

  • Two doses of the Hepatitis B vaccine
  • A pass in both course assessments
  • Valid photo ID and proof of address
  • Signed consent

Not based in London?

  • The two monthly sessions can be combined into a single eight-hour day, once a month
  • Work experience takes place at fixed clinical sites. The locations are set, not chosen

We do not place you in a job.

What we provide is the supervised experience, the portfolio and the reference that make your own applications stronger.
